This is the simple steps on how to check your firmware version.

Step 1 Notes Open your Wii console and click the wii button on the bottom left. |

Step 2 Notes : Click on the wii Settings Button. |

Step 3 Notes : You can see the version number in the top right of the screen. This you can use when trying to find tutorials that refer to your situation/version level. |
