Iv already softmodded my wii but find some of the games are not workin now on the HDD ie freezin or not loading so decided to follow ur tut but get to this stage
If you were not asked to remove 222,223,249 or 250 move to step 7.1. (I have included step by step here) when i click the link i get nothing found 404 error
only stubs i get (which i obviously not touched) are IOS4 IOS10 IOS11 IOS16 IOS20 IOS30 IOS50 IOS51 IOS60 where do i go from here mate
Hi, I’ve fixed those links, try the steps 7.1 Manual Removeal of IOS Files and if it doesn’t work try the original thread on the digital thread.
If your not asked to remove the files they might already be removed and/or not installed. In which case you can continue onto the next step.
Let us know how you go!
If you have a search there are lists online for what games require what IOS files. It may be that you need to be loading the usb loader app ontop of another IOS.

hi,
im having problems deleting the IOS’s, it won’t let me delete them even tried manually.
so after i finished the instalation i went back to MMM to try and install some other wad files and i get this error

Hi mate good work. I am having some issue with my wii accepting SD card copied all the files slot it in the wii but wont go past Welcome to the sd card menu.you can temporarily utilise the wii system memory.Black wii 4.2e.Need your help chers.

a truely amazing guide comnpared to the other crap out there….
so as i was saying all was going well untill i tried the last steps
8. Still in MMM, press up to select Run WAD Manager, then press A.
9. Press 1 to select all the wad files in the folder, then press A to continue.
If you get any install errors with the above wads, try step 7.1 above and then try again.
so i got errors installing 4/8 error ret = 1022 and 7/8 same error
and when i try steps 7.1 and retry then all 8/8 all fail and i cant open uloader
can any one please help a poor noob out, as i have no clue why this is happening, and after 3-4 days of trying my head has started hurting :<

muztee, thanks, however the guide was written already i just added the images and structure! see the links back to the original forum post to give credit where its due. The forum is also the best to hunt down resolutoins to the problems you run into.
I did a quick google search for you and did come accross a few people who found that error when the wad files were corrupt, perhaps download and extract them again and check they are not already installed!

What a star. Have been tryin on and off for several months to get Wii playing my own disc back up copies without any success until I went thru your tutorial. Everything worked perfectly and I am playin my first bacup.
Compared to the past several months of soft on/off my SD card your method was a breeze.

I’m new to this but this is what i have done so far on my black 4.2E
I downloaded an other tutorial and installed Homebrew and dvdx (not on Root2 but ios)
After that I had to choose between three folders (if one won’t work then the next etc.) to start the wadmanager and uninstall wad ios249. This did not work (only got a black screen and blue light on the wii.
Is it oke to use the complete4_2 pack with the mod_manager from this point??
Please advice.

I suggest using the tutorial steps as they are, there is a step that will ask you to remove any other cIOS files you may have installed.
I think its step 7 in the tutorial that asks you to remove existing iOS files.

. I found your page about what everything does very helpfull. Uloader is in place and I should be able to play from usb now.
Txs for your response. I finally found out, it had something to do with de formatting of my SD card.
I used your guide and all went as expected
One last question, the other tutorial I still have says it should be possible to play backups from dvd.
It mentions the following items:

NeoGamma r7
Do you have any experience with this an do you think its possible? (If not I will go on with my search).

No sorry, I’ve never looked into it… have look at some of the other loaders they are quite good and can easily be added to your SD card.
You have already done all the hard work.
Some of them have different ‘requirements’ but i find USB Loader GX to be fantastic and helps download cover art etc via the net within the app.

I have tried to add new games to my kids wii that was soft modded last year thinking i would be able to do it.. i learned just a little and added one.. although in the coverflow channel the game added but no cover, it played.. i tried another one.. no success with mario new game.. so i looked for help.. a guy transfered some files over to do a syscheck and apps folder etc…and also some other loaders for my homebrew.. and now NOTHING WORKS.. i try to open uloader gx and nothing happens… im so sad because i dont know all the jargon and finding it hard to solve.. i have photos of my syscheck on my desktop.. i had 137 games.. cant play none now.. i was told by this guy that my syscheck shows i need some ios’s or need something else.. im desperate to solve this .
Please can you help.. ive looked for you on facebook everywhere lol

Did you manage to fix this, if not I suggest starting again assuming the Hard Drive is ok and Plugged into the correct USB port try following the step by step guide here:

Pay particular attention to the Step around 7 which will have you remove old IOS files before replacing them.
You may wish to backup your current SD card incase you find out for some reason its the HDD and not the wii.

Very nice work, thanks a lot! I followed your tutorial “4.2E load backup games”, and it seems that I successfully get my back wii 4.2E soft-modded. Everything was the same as you showed in the post. But currently I am able to play ONLY ONE game on a usb stick. It is very weird, and I don’t know why. That only game is “Mario Bro the next levels”. The rest of the games appear in the Uloader, but if I load them the wii stuck at loading games….
Would you please help me out? Thank you in advance.

Do you get an error message? 002 ? there is a setting in Uloader to enable this per game I think its called the 002 “fix” or something like this. Try that and see how you go!

I have uloader on my wii and it works fine. except guitar hero warriors of rock will not load and neither will guitar hero 5. i just get a black screen. can you advise me of a way to fix this problem.
also i am having trouble trying to figure out how to get covers on each game i have on my hdd.
i managed to figure out the problem with gh games and also the covers. i just changed the ios to 223 for the gh games.
it works brilliantly now.
but i’m now having trouble getting monster hunter tri to work from my hdd.
it loads as far as the start stcreen and then crashes.
is this a known problem? or am i doing something wrong?

First of all thanks for the guide. I’ve tried following it but when I am installing IOS36 I get an error at last step saying it can’t find the 3351 wad files. Any ideas?
